The forecast budget of 2018 is set for parliament deliberation on Thursday where Finance Minister will lay out the details.
Earlier a parliament session was tabled for Tuesday however parliament Speaker had messaged the members informing the cancellation and had confirmed the session for Thursday. Speaker had however refrained from disclosing agenda details and mentioned it will be informed soon.
Some of the parliament administration officials had specified the item on Thursday's agenda would in fact be the detailing and deliberation of forecast budget for 2018.
Parliament sessions do not usually take place on Thursdays.
Meanwhile Finance Ministry had presented the budget plans for 2018 last week to the parliament where it will be assessed by the finance committee. Reports have placed the upcoming year's budget at MVR 28 billion.
This year's initial budget was confirmed at MVR 26.8 billion, however the state expenditure resulted in insufficiency leading to the state putting forth the first ever supplementary budget under the incumbent regime. Finance Ministry nodded an MVR 493 million additionally to be injected into the state budget, which received parliament go ahead.
