Foundation laying for 25 of 14-story buildings developed at the reclaimed land of Hulhumale', under the second phase of development, is set for Wednesday.
The Wednesday slated event in which foundation for the 14-story buildings will be officially laid by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The 25 14-story buildings are under state initiated 'Hiyaa' (Shelter) program.
Reports suggest the buildings of this scheme developed under the second phase is mainly targeted to government and civil servant employees. However exact details were unavailable as the project managed Housing Development Corporation (HDC) was not available for comments.
HDC has geared up for a major development project at the reclaimed land area of Hulhumale' which has been dubbed the second phase. The corporation has brokered agreements with several foreign development companies while their equipment and temporary staff blocks have been provisioned prior to engaging in the project.
Government has confirmed the commencement of construction of 7,000 flats in 2017 while the figure is 8,000 in 2018.
