NIC alleges Police uncooperative with case

The National Integrity Commission (NIC) has alleged that Maldives Police Service had been uncooperative in a probe conducted by the commission authority.

A tweet by president of NIC, Yoosuf Maaniu had warned the local police that they will "face the full legal power of NIC" should they obstruct the conduct of the commission in their probe.

Speaking to Avas, Maaniu confirmed that several cases related to Maldives Police Service are currently being investigated yet the policing authority had thus far been nothing but uncooperative. Additionally Maaniu stated that the local Police had been made aware of the actions taken against officers who breach and obstruct NIC's conduct.

He also reiterated the public's complaints over cases getting stalled due to police insubordination and noncooperation.

President of NIC had said the cases investigated at the commission hold direct interest with the public and therefore it is their right to witness conclusiveness to these cases.
