A case filed by Rasheed Construction and Carpentry (RCC) against the four children of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom at Civil Court has concluded against them.
The four children of Gayoom has been charged for failing to settle payment for a completed building project carried out by RCC.
The construction and carpentry company holds stakes from former Defense Minister Mohamed Nazim's family.
The Civil Court on Monday had ordered all four of Gayoom's children; Dunya, Yumna, Faris and Ghassan to settle a total of MVR 2.1 million to RCC within a duration of 30 days. The building was constructed on a plot at Chaandhanee Magu, registered under the names of all four.
However Gayoom's children had denied the charges set against them and the Civil Court order. They had reasoned the building was constructed poorly and had failed to match the initially instructed expectations while several of the finishing works were untouched.
But Civil Court had rebuffed the statements of all four stating that RCC had received work completion letter by the landlords and the owners, i.e. Gayoom's family had visited the site to monitor progress thus rendering their claims of unmatched building expectations, null.
