Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) deputy leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla has praised incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom addressing to him as the only selfless leader the country witnessed.
Deputy leader of the ruling party, Abdulla was all praise in his speech on Saturday night at central atoll Gaaf Dhaal Thinadhoo held ceremony. He claimed to re-elect president Yameen for his second term comes with several reasons, with the most important one being about his selfless attribute and his compassion towards the citizens of the country.
Speaking about the integrity of current president Abdulla Yameen, the deputy leader of PPM said that while Maldives has been a sovereign state for over 2000 years "the only president who puts the people's interest in front of the glory and power of designation would be Abdulla Yameen."
Abdulla stated the exemplary conduct of president Yameen deserves gratification and expressed the best way to show this is by electing him for a second term. He urged the people of Thinadhoo to be ideal citizens in the upcoming elections, hinting to vote the PPM candidate.
Abdulla, who is also a member of parliament said that president Yameen is the only leader who had stood up to protect the Islamic faith in Maldives.
In his obvious fashion, the PPM deputy leader had mocked opposition claiming their rally had mustered an audience of only 360 individuals out of which 100 had flown in from Male' while the rest were gathered from neighboring islands.
