Japan has gifted equipment worth USD 9.9 million under their Non-Project Grant Aid to the Maldives.
According to Foreign Ministry, Japan had provided with equipment used in disaster reduction at a ceremony held on Tuesday at Kalhuthuhkalaa Koshi - prime base of Maldives National Defense Force.
Japan's Minister of State for Defense and National Security Ivao Hori had officially handed over the equipment with State Minister Mohamed Zuhair of Defense Ministry had attended the ceremony to receive it.
Japan and Maldives celebrated 50 years of establishing diplomatic relationship in 2017 while the Asian giant's Defense Minister had met with president of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom as well as with Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed Asim over discussions and possible talks to further strengthen ties between the two nations.
