Social housing flat sales halted two days ahead

The scheduled sale of TATA social housing scheme flats have been abruptly halted two days ahead amid several individuals queuing up for acquisition.

Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had tweeted stating the state does not believe for lengthy queues to be the best approach for apartment purchase and therefore the event has been postponed for later while government identifies an easier approach for interested individuals to purchase the flats from both properties.

According to Housing Development Corporation (HDC) out of the 264 flats constructed by TATA, 105 were placed for sale. Application forms were initially slated for distribution on Monday from Gaazee School at 09:00hrs.

However people were lining up for application forms two days prior to the scheduled time with as many as 200 individuals receiving tokens.

HDC had stated the final date of application form submission would be Thursday, December 7 while flats were sold to individuals who presented an MVR 100,000 bank guarantee while submitting the form.
