Aasandha corporation has confirmed the newly implemented passport cards by Department of Immigration will now facilitate Aasandha health insurance packages.
In a press release by Maldives immigration department on Monday, it said the entity has incorporated Aasandha health insurance schemes available through the passport cards since it has been declared by the government as an official material for validating identities.
Passport cards were given Aasandha integration following President Yameen claiming that the cards have strong security features which prevents forging apart from the DNR issued national identity card.
Department of Immigration initiated the issuance of passport cards in October 24 for a fee of MVR 450.
The department had confirmed no additional charges will be subjected for card renewal upon misplacing or losing it. Immigration had also stated that although passport cards are applicable, travelers must possess official passports and relevant documents during international trips adding that users can omit secondary details from the passport cards if they wish.
