Central Bank - Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) - is planning to conduct a detail assessment to evaluate expense patterns of local travelers' taking trips abroad.
The survey conducted annually by the central bank of Maldives tries to determine spending patterns and income as well as average wealth of per capita in Maldives. The assessment will be conducted from December 22 til 28.
MMA states the aim of conducting the survey is to identify the expenses incurred in traveling and foods as well as accommodation or lodging abroad.
Conducted at the Velana International Airport (VIA) the central bank promises of keeping full confidentiality of the data collected.
A similar survey conducted last year showed that out of the local travelers who had departed for international destinations, 51% had flown to seek medical care while back in 2015 it had been at 58%.
Last year's survey had a total of 4,488 participants providing with their travel details to MMA.
