AP to nominate presidential candidate if coalition cannot decide

Adaalath Party (AP) has claimed that if the united opposition fails to nominate a coalition backed interim candidate for the 2018 presidential election the party will go forward in nominating a candidate of their own.

Speaking at Faafu atoll Magoodhoo during an opposition rally the AP's deputy leader and spokesperson Ali Zahir emphasized on the importance of the 2018 presidential election and the opposition's motive in challenging ruling party's apparent candidate and incumbent president Abdulla Yameen.

He also stated that while the united opposition may not become successful in coinciding on an interim presidential candidate they will still foil the chances of Yameen winning the next election.

Although Zahir had mentioned of their stand in nominating their own candidate for the 2018 election should the multiple opposition parties fail in agreeing to one opposition candidate, he does not expect that the current chain of events would lead to such a conclusion.
