President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim flew back to homeland after concluding their maiden state visit to China.
The president's couple made their official visit to China on the invitation of Xi Jinping. During his visit to the global powerhouse, president Yameen and his Chinese counterpart Jinping had started official discussions between the two countries.
The eventful visit concluded with both countries inking 12 agreements which includes the controversy ridden free trade agreement between Maldives and China as well as resource pooling and exchange in socio-economic development.
President Yameen had met with several Chinese dignitaries and discussed in cementing the already strong ties between China and Maldives.
He had also met with Maldivians residing at China.
The president's couple were accompanied by members of his cabinet and some of the pro-government parliamentarians.
