The case of barricading medical attention for former vice president Ahmed Adeeb filed by his advocate at Civil Court has been cancelled on Sunday due to his absence.

Adeeb's medical attention case was filed four months earlier and saw its approval recently was scheduled for a hearing on Sunday. However his advocate Moosa Siraaj confirms the ex-VP had not presented himself to the court on time.

Serving a 33 year sentence at jail of being found guilty of attempting to assassinate the incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Adeeb has been diagnosed with both Glaucoma and Cataract - optical related ailments.

The former vice president is suffering from internal cyst and kidney stone accumulation as well and has been recommended to seek apt medical treatment.

Siraaj, the representing lawyer of Adeeb said a court order to release him for traveling abroad was requested in order to seek medical treatment for conditions that cannot be treated inland.

However state has declined on permitting a fly order for the ex-VP conditioning him to settle the money which he has been alleged to have embezzled through Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC).
