India-Maldives joint military training to commence

Maldives and India military will be commencing a joint military and tactical training to counter terror attacks and threats in such scenarios.

Indian army had sent a statement to various news outlets of the country that the joint military op is expected to start sometime on Friday at Belgaum, Karnataka.

Though the prime aim is to train Maldivian army officers to counter terror attacks, such a joint military training is not the first of its kind. The training marks another block added to the India-Maldive 'Dosti' initiative which focuses on pooling resources to assist the two nations in countering threats.

The training session dubbed 'Allies' slated for December 15, will last for a 14 day duration.

Both India and Maldives have been long military allies with one remarkable notation of India's relentless efforts by Indian army during the ill-fated Lanka rebel-led coup on November 3rd, 1988. A terror offensive which was foiled eventually with India's extension of an assisting hand in capturing the fleeing rebel militants.

Since then both nations had acted in same accord with several joint military ops conducted to boost skills of army-men.
