No unrest in Maldives-India relationship; says Ambassador

Maldives ambassador to India Ahmed Mohamed affirmed the relationship between India and Maldives has not worsened and remains steadfast.

Speaking to India's "National Herald" Mohamed assured the unity between South Asian neighbors India and Maldives has not wavered over the recent development of ties between Maldives and China.

Although the Maldivian ambassador at India had reiterated the relationship between the two countries stayed resolute, recently sparked rumors have suggested dents formed between the two countries over the free trade agreement between China and Maldives.

This was rebuffed by Mohamed who claims that free trade agreements were part of maintaining diplomacy in economic foreground between nations. He pointed out to the rumors as half-baked and without proper information implying they are concocted by anti-government fundamentalists to create unrest and tension.

"India and Maldives have been allies and companions for ages. We share both historic and cultural bonds," said Ahmed Mohamed.
