Famous Bollywood diva Bipasha Basu and husband Karan Singh Grover would not perform on 2018 celebratory show at Alimas Carnival on Sunday night.
The MITDC and government affiliated major new year event was initially reported to include the hot couple of B-Town along with Sufi magnate Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Mika Singh.
Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has stated that both Basu and her husband Grover had to cancel their trip to Maldives over a last minute alteration to their shooting schedules.
Basu who has been dubbed Bollywood's "horror queen" after delivering back-to-back supernatural thrillers that went on to mince box numbers is taking her break from the genre and said her next outing will be a family drama.
She was quoted by NDTV, saying "I am finally taking a break from horror films. My next is a family drama. I am really happy that I will not have to answer media that why I always do supernatural movies."
Sunday night's new year celebratory show at capital city Male' will have performances from the legendary singers, followed by several other items from notable Bollywood actors. However MITDC has been very tight-lipped about their 'big surprise' for the event.
