'Sufi King' Rahat Fateh Ali Khan arrives in Maldives

Pakistan's homegrown Ghazal and Sufi king Rahat Fateh Ali Khan - nephew of the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - has graced Maldives for his "Welcome 2018" show on Sunday night at Alimas Carnival.

Khan who was greeted at Velana International Airport (VIA) by Maldivian traditional drum number - "Boduberu" - spoke to the media present at the venue stating he will perform some his lauded hits like the recent chart-topper "Mere Rashke Kamar" from Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi starrer "Baadshaho" as well as several of his Bollywood chart topper tunes like "Ishq Sufiyana" among others.

Khan who had brought his own style and flare to the once powerful Sufi genre - which had waned in popularity in Tinsel Town from late 90's til mid 00's - is notable for his sensational voice and unbeatable track record in chart topper songs.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will perform alongside his Bollywood colleague Mika Singh to deliver some great numbers during Sunday night's show.

Mika Singh arrived in Maldives sometime on Saturday.

The show organizer Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation's (MITDC) Managing Director Mohamed Shahid confirms all performers for "Welcome 2018" event has arrived in Maldives with dance groups performing on the show having rehearsed their items.

Attendees will be granted access starting from 19:00hrs with live "Boduberu" performances kicking off during this time.

Both Khan and Singh are slated to perform post 21:00hrs on Sunday night's "Welcome 2018" event.

While B-Town's "horror queen" Bipasha Basu alongside her husband Karan Singh Grover were scheduled to perform in the event, they had to cancel their trip to Maldives over last minute alteration to their shooting schedules.

Both actors are reported to share screen time in their upcoming family drama - which had started its shootings a while back.

Public Service Media (PSM) will be live broadcasting the show from its channels to Maldives.
