Police have arrested the driver of the truck which collided with a motorbike in the southernmost Atoll Addu, killing a 13 year old boy.
The boy died while being treated at the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital shortly after the accident in Addu Link Road.
The victim has been identified as 13 year old Arsham Ibrahim who was pronounced dead around 5pm on Tuesday.
Arsham had been on the passenger seat of a motorbike when it collided with an environment ministry pick-up truck.
Police said the 33 year old truck driver was taken into custody on Sunday and the truck had been impounded for the investigation.
Eyewitnesses said the speeding truck had tried to overtake the motorbike when the accident occurred.
