Case by ex-VP requested for annulment

State has requested from Civil Court to annul the case presented by former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb lodging the complaint of medical attention negligence by authorities.

State requests from court to declare the case void as the it cannot be proceeded any further.

Post the dispute settlement phase the case was filed at Civil Court while a hearing was scheduled on Thursday where documents were exchanged.

State raised a procedural clause while refraining from complying to the former VP's case and instead requested to the court to annul it.

Thursday's hearing concluded with the court tabling another hearing for Adeeb to counter a response.

The former Vice President was seen with a bald head due to his receding health condition while reports confirm he had contacted Cataract and Glaucoma. In addition to this Adeeb was diagnosed with kidney stones and cyst formation.

His attorney had requested from the court to permit Ahmed Adeeb to fly abroad to seek medical attention for the ailments which cannot be treated in local institutes.

Adeeb, who was convicted for his direct involvement in plotting the assassination of incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom received a 33 year sentence. He is tried at court for gross misconduct and corruption while he managed oversight of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC).

State has conditioned and ordered Ahmed Adeeb to settle the money he had apparently siphoned off from MMPRC.
