Tar laid in newer roads of satellite town Hulhumale'

Several new roads under the recent reclaimed land area has been completed with tar laid for significant lengths of the 14.2 kilometer road area.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) commenced the tar 'installation' back in July 2017.

The corporation in-charge of developing the satellite town Hulhumale' confirmed the installation and laying of sewerage pipes and systems along with tar on roads in zone-2 of the phase-2 area is currently underway.

Managing Director Mohamed Saiman of HDC said the second phase development will proceed in a relatively new approach compared to the first phase works, stating the completion of road areas under the phase-2 area will provide a "total infrastructural solution."

The roads are developed under the supervision and management of two Indian companies; Mohan Mutha Exports and Asoka Build-Con for a project cost of USD 40.3 million.
