Statistics of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has indicated an increase of state revenue collected from land vehicle fees.

According to MIRA the revenue generated to state from vehicle fees reached MVR 83 million in 2017, which is a 10% increase on MVR 75 million collected in 2016.

In 2017 the sea vessel fee collected to government had also been considerably higher than the revenue generated back in 2016. MIRA confirms that state collected MVR 28 million as sea vessel fees in 2017 while the revenue collected in 2016 stayed at MVR 20 million.

Land vehicles imported and in-use in Maldives has been increasing significantly through recent years. This is expected increase even further with several islands upgrading their road systems while the bridge linking Male' and Hulhule' will add more travel space.
