A lawyer who represents the former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has been suspended on Thursday.
Hussain Shameem, who along with famous advocate Maumoon Hameed represent the former head of state, was suspended regarding an ongoing police investigation according to the statement released on Department of Judiciary Administration website.
Judiciary Administration furthermore noted that Shameem was suspended following Supreme Court's order.
Shameem was suspended earlier as well, however it was revoked on January 17.
The advocate is being questioned over attempts to conceal evidence related to former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Gayoom was arrested immediately after incumbent president Abdulla Yameen declared state of emergency on February 5.
