Opposition aligned lawmakers who were arrested during Wednesday night's protest have been released by authorities on Thursday.
The released politicians included north-Machchangolhi MP Mariya Didi, Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain and Maduvvari constituency lawmaker Mohamed Ameeth.
Additionally former housing minister under Mohamed Nasheed's administration was released on Thursday night as well.
While the three lawmakers have been released almost 24 hours later authorities had not disclosed the exact reason for their apprehension. Both MPs Ameeth and Ali were apprehended previously while this was the first time authorities arrested Mariya Didi under the ongoing state of emergency.
Although the three lawmakers have been lucky with their release several opposition aligned parliamentarians are still in detention on multiple charges.
These lawmakers include Dhan'gethi MP Ilham Ahmed, south-Machchangolhi MP Abdulla Sinan, south-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof and Kin'bidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz who is also the deputy leader of Jumhoory Party.
The lawmaker son of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Ahmed Faris Maumoon who holds the parliament seat to Dhiggaru constituency is also under detention on multiple charges which includes bribing parliament members during the no-confidence motion of Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
