The parliamentary group leader of prime opposition Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the party aligned central-Henveiru MP Ali Azim is expected to make appearance at Criminal Court on Monday afternoon for remand hearing.
The party had tweeted confirming both opposition members will be summoned to Criminal Court at 15:00hrs on Monday for their remand hearing. MDP had requested its supporters to gather at the vicinity of the court at this time.
Both members were arrested under the ongoing state of emergency while the prime opposition party had recently expressed their concern about the confinement of their PG leader Solih.
The party had further specified that police had not handed over the medicine prescribed for Solih's cardiac condition as well as fresh clothes which was provided earlier by his family to be sent to the member.
Authorities had arrested multiple members of the opposition faction since the presidential decreed state of emergency.
While many demonstrators were arrested from the weekend protests, many had since been released however some of the opposition aligned party elites are still under custody awaiting their remand extension or release.
