Ex-electoral chief summoned in graft case

Former electoral watchdog chief Fuad Thaufeeg has been summoned by Maldives' Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over an ongoing graft investigation.

Fuad has been accused of graft in hiring members for the national compliance bureau constituted for the 2013 presidential elections. The former elections commission chief who is currently residing in neighbouring Sri Lanka has been summoned at 2pm on Wednesday.

Responding to the summons, Fuad on Twitter insisted that he was unaware that any issues had been raised with the case in question adding that he had not even been question in the three years after he resigned from the commission.
