MTCC wins Artificial Beach renovation project for MVR 13 mln

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the renovation project of Artificial Beach at the east end of capital city Male' for a cost of MVR 13 million.

While speaking at the signing ceremony held today at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure housing minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the project has been assigned to MTCC in a government initiative to restructure and renovate public sites to fresher concepts much like the west-end artificial beach Rasfannu.

According to housing minister Dr. Muizzu though the project cost is MVR 13 million the state owned transport and contracting company will be handling MVR 3 million worth of the project as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for free.

Housing Minister ensured the finished site will cater a larger group of swimmers and visitors with plans of expanding the beach area as well as dredging more area for swimming is included in the project. Apart from this the finished venue would house cafeterias, tuck-shops as well as seating arrangements much like the west-end Rasfannu beach area.

Minister Dr. Muizzu claimed the project will conclude within five months from its commencement date.

Housing Minister also asserted the cafes and restaurants operating in the area has been notified to vacate the site for renovation and the proprietors had agreed with the ministry's requests accordingly.
