WAMCO disposes 30K ton waste from Maldives capital

Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has confirmed of disposing 30,000 tons of waste from the capital city Male' during the month of Ramadan, 2018.

The company's media official confirmed they have been disposing on average between 850 to 1050 tons of waste from Male' city everyday in Ramadan.

The normal capacity of waste disposed usually is between 700 to 1000 tons every other month.

The disposed waste originates from all 17,570 registered residences under WAMCO.

The state-based waste management corporation added that perishables and disposables from construction sites are included as top discarded items during Ramadan.

Though WAMCO carries out waste disposal throughout Male' on an extended working frame, garbage bags are seen stacked in various places across the city's roads.

WAMCO came to inception in August 2017, bringing the dispersed operation of waste disposal by expatriates on a monetary basis into an organized system. The corporation also started the full scale utilization of disposal bins and waste carrier vehicles for its operations.
