President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has officially inaugurated the newly developed harbor of Meemu atoll Kolhufushi.
The project commenced back in 2016 while the work concluded by March 2017.
It is reported that the IDB loan issued for the project reached MVR42 million. The new harbor is 650 feet long and 200 feet wide. In addition to this the harbor consists of a 189 meter revetment and a 409 meter outer-barrier.
President Abdulla Yameen along with members of his cabinet made the visit to Kolhufushi on Wednesday morning. Upon arrival he received a warm welcome from the islanders.
