Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has stated the Vilimale' phase 2 project - reclaiming lands from nearby Fushidhiggaru and Gulhi lagoons respectively - to house approximately 300,000 people will cost USD86 million.
Dr. Shainee who is also a member of Economic and Youth Council made the statement in an interview with Television Maldives (TVM).
According to fisheries minister president Abdulla Yameen pledged on providing shelter or housing for Maldivian public; anyone above the age of 18 years, in order to solve the housing issues many face across greater Male' region over mounting rent prices.
He also noted the 25 storey multi-functional Dharumavantha Hospital will become feasible if enough people migrate to Male' area to base their livelihood.
Dr. Shainee had also criticized opposition for attempting to take credit over several infrastructural development projects initiated across Maldives by president Yameen, which were once deemed impossible.
