President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be traveling to neighbouring Sri Lanka next month to take part in the country's Independence Day festivities.
Spokesperson of the President's Office Ibrahim Hood stated that the President would depart to Sri Lanka on the third of next month, and will conclude his visit on the fifth. Further details of the visit will be revealed at a later time, said Hood.
According to reports, the President is the honorary guest at the official ceremony held to mark the Independence Day, on the invitation of the Sri Lankan President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena.
The Independence Day of Sri Lanka is celebrated on 4th of February to commemorate its internal political independence from British rule on that day in 1948. The semi-presidential representative democratic republic recently witnessed a massive political turmoil when the hostility between the country's top two statesmen reached its peak in October.
