Fisherman passes away while out at sea

A fisherman out fishing off the coast of Hithadhoo island of Laamu atoll passed away on Saturday.

MNDF revealed that the man aboard the fishing vessel "Maavehi" which was 24 nautical miles south of Hithadhoo island, was taken to the regional hospital of Laamu atoll due to sudden decline in his health.

The hospital of Gan island reported that the 45 year old man had already passed away by the time he was brought to the center. The coast guard had assisted in transferring him to the hospital at 11.30am.

Earlier today, a man who was swimming in Maafaru island of Noonu atoll had passed away while he was making his way to shore due to a sudden onset of chest pain.
