Ahmed Naif from AVAS Online has been elected as a member of the Maldives Media Council (MMC).
The Managing Editor of AVAS online was elected as member of the council in the bi-election held on Saturday with 63 votes in his favor.
His competitor, Ahmed Naushad, winner of the first Media Award presented by the council, won 9 votes in the bi-election.
85 individuals working in the journalism field registered to vote in the election.
A bi-election was held to elect a member for the Media Council after the term of member Ali Yoosuf from Raajje TV ended. His predecessor was an employee who previously worked at AVAS online, Mohamed Afzal.
