Maldivian man caught with drugs in India

A Maldivian man has been arrested in Cochin International Airport with a large amount of drugs.

Citing the Customs Bureau of Cochin Airport, Indian medias revealed that the man was caught with 3kgs of recreational drug Hashish oil on Monday. The street value of the drugs amount to 15 crore rupees, the media reported.

A statement released by the customs bureau read that the man was searched due to exhibition of suspicious behavior. The drugs were discovered hidden in a special compartment in his bag.

The man was scheduled to fly back to Maldives via an IndiaGo flight when he was caught.

Indian auhorities did not reveal the identity of the arrested man as they are searching for other individuals who may be connected to the case. The man has been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation.
