Hassan Sobir has been appointed as the Maldivian ambassador to European Union (EU) and Belgium.
Sobir was presented with the letter of appointment by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday. Sobbir has previously held the same position.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid noted that the European Union plays a vital role in the development and establishment of democracy in the Maldives. He expressed his affirmation that the relationship between Maldives and EU would prosper under Sobir's leadership.
Hassan Sobir holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Australia, in addition to a Diploma in Economic Statistics from the United States and Bachelor of Commerce from India.
He previously held several diplomatic positions including the Permanent Representative to the UN Office, High Commissioner of Maldives to the United Kingdom and High Commissioner to the Republic of Singapore.
