Pres seeks Parliament approval on appointing current ambs to other countries

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is seeking Parliament approval on appointing two current ambassadors to other countries.

The letter sent to the Parliament regarding the matter was read aloud by Parliament secretary General Fathimath Niusha during Monday's sitting. In his letter, the President said he wished to bring Maldivian Ambassador to Belgium and UE, Hassan Sobir, and the Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Umar Abdul Razzaq back to the Maldives. He is seeking parliament approval to appoint Umar Abdul Razzaq to Belgium and EU, and Sobir to Japan.

He did not state why he wished to change their countries of appointment.

The matter has been forwarded to the Parliament Committee on Foreign Relations for review. The Parliament floor will decide on approving the move when the committee reviews the matter.
