Public transport made free for the disabled

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that those with disabilities will no longer have to pay for their bus and ferry tickets.

On Sunday, MTCC revealed that in order to avail the benefits, the individual has to be registered at the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) as a person with disabilities. The card issued by NSPA can then be used for free public transportation, said MTCC.

The service can be availed on buses and ferries traveling between Male, Hulhumale' and Hulhule' island where Velana Interntional Airport is located.

The buses used for public transportation by MTCC are especially adapted for easy access to those with disabilities.
