Five people have been arrested in capital Male' with a large amount of drugs.
The police revealed on Friday that the five individuals were arrested during a special operation executed by the police on Wednesday. The police centered their operation around a tip received that some boxes loaded onto a pickup en route to a home in Macchangolhi ward contained drugs.
The home was searched and two foreigners and three Maldivians were arrested with the drugs. The arrested Maldivians were a 49 year old woman, and two men aged 28 and 36. The foreigners were a 26 year old Bangladesh man and an INdian national aged 42.
The five people have been remanded into custody for 15 days.
