Ex-VP Jameel loses to independent candidate in parliamentary polls

Former Vice President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has suffered defeat in Saturday's parliamentary election.

Jameel, who contested for Villimale' constituency lost to independent candidate Ahmed Usham. The former Deputy Attorney General won the seat after competing against the ex-VP, MDP candidate for the constituency Yaameen Mohamed (Yaante) and Maldives Social Liberal Party candidate Mohamed Hussain.

3174 people are eligible to vote for the Villimale' constituency while the constituency had a voter turnout of 1942.
