A household in Thundi ward of Laamu Gan caught on fire on Sunday afternoon.
Council member of the island, Ismail Zaki told AVAS that the house received huge damages in the fire. While the incident occurred around 12.58pm, the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there was no report of injury. The MNDF Fire and Rescue Services have now put out the fire and are working to clear the smoke in the area.
The police are now investigating the cause of fire. It has been reported that the fire was the result of a electrical short circuit..
