A man attempting to mug an expatriate was beaten up by onlookers on Monday night.
Police revealed that they received reports of an assault taking place near Shaheed Ali Hingun of capital Male'. Upon further investigation, the police learnt that a 27-year old Maldivian had attempted to mug a Bangladesh expatriate after threatening him with a knife. Onlookers at the scene had intervened and beat up the mugger, which eventually landed him in the hospital, said the police.
The man did not suffer serious injuries.
