The body of the Ukrainian tourist who was run over by a bus last Monday has been handed over to her family.
The body of the 31-year old tourist was handed over to her mother. The family is currently working with the Ukrainian Embassy in India to obtain the necessary permits to take her body back to Ukraine while MTCC is bearing all the costs of transporting the body back to her country. The body is being kept at the mortuary in capital Male' until all arrangements are finalized.
The 31-year old woman died in Hulhumale' City after being run over by the bus when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. It is believed that the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the bus when the bus conductor woke him up after he drifted off at the wheel. The driver has been remanded for 11 days by the Criminal Court.
