A man has been arrested while another fled the scene after being caught with alcohol in Hulhumale’ city a in the early hours of Monday morning.
The police revealed that a foreigner who was loading some items onto the back of a taxi from a dinghy vessel docked at the Hulhumale’ lagoon was noticed by police patrolling the area. The taxi was stopped and searched, and 60 bottles of alcohol were discovered inside the taxi.
While the 39-year old foreigner who loaded the bottles onto the car was arrested, the Maldivian driver of the taxi fled the scene.
The police is investigating the case further. Cases involving alcohol has been increasing in number in the recent months.
