'Morsi’s death is an outrage and a disgrace' - Ex pres Nasheed

Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the death of Egypt's first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi is an outrage and a disgrace.

Egypt's former president, died Monday after collapsing during a session in court. While criticism is being targeted at the current Egyptian government, former president Nasheed stated in a tweet that Morsi should not have been deposed though a coup, and nor should he have been imprisoned.

'Mohamed Morsi’s death is an outrage and a disgrace. He should never have been in prison, nor deposed in a coup, and the int. community should never have acknowledged the post coup regime. May Allah grant Prez Morsi paradise and give strength to his family', read Nasheed's tweet.

Morsi was elected as the President of Egypt in 2012. However, the Egyptian military led by current President Abdul Fatthah Al-Sisi launched a coup to overthrow Morsi's government in 2013 and had him imprisoned.
