A four-year-old child drowned in Maafushi island on Saturday.
A member of Maafushi Council revealed to AVAS that the boy was visiting the island with his family for holiday, and were staying at a guest house near the beach.
The child drowned while swimming, and had already passed away by the time he was taken to the Health Center.
Although the island council has confirmed the reports of drowning, the Health Center has not made a comment regarding the incident thus far.
The police said they are investigating the case.
