Maldives has signed the Global Pledge on Media Freedom.
The pledge was signed on behalf of the Maldivian government by the resident ambassador of Maldives to the United Kingdom, Dr. Farahanaz Faisal, on the sidelines of the Global Conference of Media Freedom.
The pledge commits to empowering the freedom of the media though government action. The pledge also encourages to speak out and take action together, through a Media Freedom Coalition while reinforcing international initiatives to champion media freedom.
The Global Conference for Media Freedom was attended by representatives of several governments and medias. The two-day conference concluded on Friday.
