Women's TT team wins gold at IOIG

Maldives Women's National Table Tennis team has won a gold medal after competing in a team event against Mauritius in the finals of Indian Ocean Island Games.

Maldives won the match 2-3, with player Aishath Rafa Nazim playing an important role during the match that led to the win.

Rafa turned the match around during the second game, restoring the team's spirit and confidence after Maldives team lost the first game,

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who was present at the match congratulated the team on their win. He took part with the Maldivian team in the celebrations that followed the win.

During the first game of the match, Fathimath Dheema Ali played against an experienced Mauritius player and lost the game with a score of 1-3. Losing the first two set with scores 9,11 and 2-11, Dheema won the third set with perseverance scoring 12-10. She lost the last set by 6-11.

Rafa played the second game and won the game with a score of 2-3, with set scores of 11-9, 7-12, 11-3, and 9-11.

The third game was played by experienced player Mueena Mohamed who was defeated in all three sets, with scores of 1-11, 8-11 and 12-14.

Dheema again played the fourth game and won it with a score of 3-1. The set scores were 7-11, 11-6, 11-5 and 11-6.

The match winning game was faced by Rafa once more, winning the match with a score of 3-1. She won the sets with scores of 11-6, 11-5, 10-12 and 12-11. She won the last set of the game after making a comeback while the Mauritius player was in the lead by three points.
