Drugs worth MVR 1.9 mill seized by Maldives customs

Drugs worth over MVR 2 million were seized by Customs on Saturday.

Customs said packets containing what was suspected to be drugs were discovered in the luggage of a Maldivian who arrived at Velana International Airport from Trivandrum, India.

The packets contained 0.33 kg of cocaine and 1.1 kg of heroin, which has a street value of approximately MVR 1.93 million. The man who attempted to smuggle in the drugs have been arrested, and the drugs are now in police custody, informed customs.
