Tourism occupancy rate increases by 2.4%

Tourism Ministry has revealed that the country's tourism occupancy rate has increased by 2.4%.

Statistics published by the ministry shows that the occupancy rate at tourist accommodation facilities was at 66% during June. This is a 2.4% hike compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry said 5,420,175 bed nights were sold in total during the period, which is an increase of 14.7% compared to last year.

However, the average duration of stay decreased by 6.3% despite the increase in occupancy rate.

Tourism Ministry said 113,457 tourists visited the Maldives in June. This is an increase of 21% compared to the 93,786 tourists who arrived during the same period in 2018.
