Tourism Ministry seeks party to conduct assessment on islands

Tourism Ministry is seeking a party to conduct assessments on islands proposed by the government for tourism development.

The ministry announced they are seeking a party to conduct the 'Initial Environment Assessment and Social Economic Assessment' on islands proposed by the ministry.

Interested parties are to obtain information from the Tourism Ministry at 1:00 pm on Thursday, and submit their proposals to the ministry by 1 pm of August 29.

The government previously announced that it is preparing to introduce new resorts to the market. Minister Ali Waheed confirmed that a list of proposed islands for resort development has been sent to the President's Office. Tourism Ministry's statistics show 140 resorts are currently being operated in the Maldives, while an additional 132 new resorts are being developed.
