Penalties against DED officers 'too light'

The actions being proposed against the seven officers who used excessive force during a police operation have been appealed by the Commissioner of Police.

It has been reported that the appeal was filed as the Commissioner of Police found the proposed actions against the officers were not adequate for their crime.

While the Disciplinary Board of the police made the decision to demote the officers and change their department, while revoking their disciplinary colors, Commissioner of Police appealed the board's decision under the special powers vested in him.

While many have speculated and criticized the commissioner of attempting to defend the actions of the seven officers by appealing the disciplinary board's decision, it has been reported that the appeal was filed as the commissioner believes the board's decision does not match the penalties given for similar situations in the past.

The action of the seven DED officers came to light after a leaked video of the raid began circulating on social media. The video showed the plainclothes officers using excessive force against a suspect on the scene.
