While many have speculated and criticized the commissioner of attempting to defend the actions of the seven officers by appealing the disciplinary board's decision, it has been reported that the appeal was filed as the commissioner believes the board's decision does not match the penalties given for similar situations in the past.
The action of the seven DED officers came to light after a leaked video of the raid began circulating on social media. The video showed the plainclothes officers using excessive force against a suspect on the scene.
