A Bangladeshi national was caught while attempting to enter Maldives with 3.69 kg of drugs.
Maldives Customs Service said the man was checked at Velana International Airport (VIA) upon his arrival due to suspicious behavior, and the drugs were discovered in his luggage. Initial testing showed the substances were positive to Cannabis, a psychoactive recreational drug.
While the drugs weighed 3.69 kg, its street value would reach MVR 2,900,000, said Customs.
The man and the drugs have been handed over to Maldives Police Service.
Customs statistics show 28.49 kg of drugs have been discovered and confiscated thus far this year.
